JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE CASE FOR NOT HAVING CHILDREN. WHAT NEXT?

Image
I get the bit about the pleasure and happiness of giving birth to ones own babies, of having cute and adorable babies and children. I get the bit about the happiness and joy which children can bring to their parents.  I also get the bit about having to deal with the stressful challenges involved in caring for children and parenting them.  But I still question the fact that all of this is doomed to come to a tragic, though 'natural end.'   Even though it, the process of our species having children,  will continuously be repeated and have the same 'tragic' but 'natural outcome.' While our species continue to exist. And then, I ask myself, for what purpose? What would us humans, individually and collectively, have lost.  If we were not to exist anymore? What would we lose, if we were to stop existing? The answer, it seems to me, is absolutely nothing. Our existence is more filled with foreboding and pain, of various kinds, than it is filled with joy and happiness

That, like it has been in so many other things, it has been promoting the art of deception, selfish, self-interested, and machivellianistic. And the lesson that the people of Afghanistan have to learn from this debacle, is that people have only themselves to depend on to build the society they aspire towards.  Therefore, it makes good sense for them to make it easier on themselves, by applying the necessary degree of tolerance and reasonableness.  To eschew the path of extremism and irrationality, so that there can be more common ground between all the peoples of Afghanistan to unite, cooperate and build their nation.  And herein lies the biggest challenge for the Taliban administration. Do they want to be a conduit or enabler for a better Afghanistan?  Or do they want to deprive the people of a future, by effectively amputating the nation's feet and hands, and forbid the people from developing and applying their intellect to building their country? It is a crime against both hum

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 90.

This period of Kazaliwa's life was to see him making progress both in accepting, however reluctantly, parts of 'the system', as well as rejecting some of the pressures to conform. It was when Kazaliwa decided that he did not want to work for anybody doing the proverbial 9 to 5 job. So, he went into researching, exploring and setting up his own online business. His first being that of creating advertising campaigns for businesses. This he did in collaboration with someone involved in graphics designing. Kazaliwa worked hard at it, doing more than the proverbial 9 to 5, but, unfortunately, the business failed to make any headway. It was also a period of time which saw Kazaliwa making the move towards acquiring his own accommodation. In doing so, he relented and accepted the necessity of registering for any benefits for which he was eligible. And so it was that on a certain day, Kazaliwa was successful in renting his first independent accommodation. This was constituted a ro

In the end, Hamilton trailed home behind Max by 1.333 seconds. However, the margin of Max's win is much bigger than it might appear, or, looked at from Hamilton's perspective, his comparative loss is much larger than it might seem.  Because , like the person who only missed winning the lottery by one number, it really does not matter whether it is only one or more numbers they got wrong.  They still failed to win. Similarly, it really does matter whether  It did not matter whether Hamilton came up 1 or 20 seconds short.  He still ended the race behind Max. And with  the Championship race being this close, only winning or losing  or DNFing it really matters. Unfortunately for Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, unlike the small margin by which Max won the race, the points points advantage which it accrues to Max, is quite another matter.  Because, here, a 12 points difference between him and Max, is, indeed, not small matter. Verstappen's 12 points advantage is very big and

A Very Big Congratulations to Team Red Bull and Max Verstappen, and Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, and Team Red Bull and Sergio Perez, for making it to P.1, P.2, and P.3 respectively, at the 2021 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix!! And now, having paid homage to these two front contenders for the both the 2021 Drivers Championship, and the Constructors Championship, what am I going to say about the race? Well, it certainly was a very exciting and fascinating race. One which thrilled us with Hamilton having benefitted from a great start of the Grid, to overtake Max, while he held off Sergio Perez, to take the lead and led the race for the first dozen or so laps.  And, we were also intrigued by the strategy of Red Bull, in pitting Max earlier than might have reasonably been expected.   But with the desired outcome of enabling their Star to regain the lead from the Team Mercedes' Star, when it most mattered.  Because, as it turned out, when Team Mercedes decided on the strategy

And so it was that the West gave itself the 'divine mission' of invading Afghanistan to fight the forces that opposed it, and to 'pacify' the country and its people.  To inculcate them with its own values, political systems. As is the almost unavoidable outcome of all or most intervention and colonial models. Afghanistan has to be successfully pacified and to a state of peaceful coexistence with her neighbours and the 'international community.'  If it was/is to cease to be a threat to the West and the rest of the world. But, was that ever the case? I mean, if it was, then what does the West now expect of the country, by having deserted it and its people, leaving them to fend for themselves, as best they can?  Why is the West applying 'collective punishment' to the people of Afghanistan, by refusing to trade with and offer them reasonable assistance?  Why are these nations, individually and collectively, folding their hands behind their backs, tightly p

It does not make any sense, that the Western nations, primarily the United States, Canada, and the nations constituting the European Union, should be so suddenly turning their backs on the people of Afghanistan.  That they should be so implicitly, if not overtly, telling said people to fuck off.  The West is telling the Afghans that whatever intervention it made into their country.   Whether it is to kill and maim them, or to provide what it oftentimes, euphemistically calls 'humanitarian aid', it will only do so on their, the West's terms. And I ask myself, how can this be? Where is the logic; where is the prudence and where is the humanity in any or all of this?  The West, collectively, proclaimed itself to have been in Afghanistan to save the people from themselves.  From their internecine warfare, and from their old traditions, and, arguably, religious and tribal excesses.  All or some of which, examined through the prism of those of us who see nothing wrong with people
