GERMAN GRAND PRIX - NICO ROSBERG ON POLE AND HAMILTON P2; A GAME OF PREDATOR AND PREY?

Quiet contemplation is need for tomorrow's Hockenheim Grand Prix

Tomorrow's German Grand Prix is due to take place at Germany's Hockenheim circuit, and should probably be a finely balanced race, with one of Germany's 3 Grand Prix racers, Nico Rosberg, being on Pole, with his arch rival, Lewis Hamilton, breathing down his back at P2. As if that is not enough excitement and trepidation for Mercedes and grand prix fans all over the world, Daniel Riccardo, that intrepid and most gregarious of Formula One drivers/racers, is occupying P3 position.

This will be the second consecutive time when Rosberg has placed himself on Pole, with Hamilton behind him. In the last race Hamilton, with some good fortune, prevailed upon Rosberg and overtook at the start of the race, and won it. The question now, is that of whether Hamilton, using the skills and experience he has, and blessed with more good fortune, will be able to repeat the feat of overtaking Rosberg, again, in the very early stages of the Hockenheim Grand Prix.

To say that Rosberg was extremely disappointed with not winning the Hungarian Grand Prix might be the proverbial understatement. To say that Rosberg will be feeling that he has no option but to win his home, the German Grand Prix, is to state the obvious

At the same time, it is very clear that Lewis has already told himself that, Pole or no Pole, he wants, he intends to win the German Grand Prix; probably not because he wants to shame or ridicule his team mate, but because he has determined that he can win the 2016 World Championship, and winning every race counts. He is setting himself the target of winning this race, but would settle for second place; if he has no option but to do so.  For example, should the gods, for whatever reasons, decide that this one is not his to win.

The Hockenheim Grand Prix will be an extremely charged affair. For Rosberg, winning it might be considered to be a matter of 'honour.' For Hamilton, it is simply another opportunity to win and add another race to his tally of wins and to continue his progression towards trying to win the world championship.

The racers need to stay calm, cool and collected and drive with controlled passion.

However, precisely because this race is so highly charged, the stakes are very high, and requires Hamilton and Rosberg to, at all cost, including not winning, if needs be, avoid coming into contact with each others car.

This race can be won by either Rosberg or Hamilton, but only if they avoid impacting each others car. They must survive the start of the race, and not try to win it in the first or first couple of laps. Hamilton is somewhat compromised by losing out on Pole, but he is not irredeemably compromised, and could still win the race by remaining calm, cool and collected, while employing, in tandem with his team, the right tactics and strategies throughout the race.

Hamilton is more than capable of winning this race, but if he is to do so, he must drive with the maturity and mastery which is befitting that of his and Rosberg's Mercedes racing cars.

So, as we await what should be a potentially very exciting German Grand Prix, let us hope that the racers stay calm, drive skillfully and within the rules, and give all Grand Prix fans a great and excitng race to remember. Especially as there is this threat hanging over whether Hockenheim can survive as a Grand Prix circuit.

Let the best racer, with his share of luck win.

The winner will be the driver who is able to drive as if he has become at one with the elements around him,  using their energy to propel him and flowing with it frictionlessly.
