A THOUGHT FOR TODAY - OPEN THE PRISON GATES AND LET THE PRISONERS OUT?! THE END.

It is not a straightforward matter for Elizabeth Truss to address these policies, because, as I have already said, the 'prison works' approach is one that safeguards the profitability of the independent or private contractors businesses which are now running many prisons. Keeping prisons full, has, like in the United States, become a big industry, and the stakeholders are not going to give up easily. They will increase their lobbying in obscure recesses of government.

Yes, not only would opening the prison gates and letting out the non-violent and non-high risk inmates, be good for the country's attestation to being 'civilised' and humane, but it would also be good for family life, and for the economy. It would reduce the cost of the criminal justice system, and free up thousands of convicted people to acquire gainful employment, and make their contribution towards the country's economy and the nation's social well-being.

So, yes, let the message go forth: Open The Prison Gates and let out the inmates who are only inside because of the criminal justice system and government's demand for incarceration for punitive reasons. And not because incarceration is the most appropriate form of 'punishment' or 'retribution.'

What are your views about 'crime and punishment? How do you measure how much, if any time a person convicted of a crime, of a particular crime, should spend caged in a soulness cell, devoid of his/her freedom to walk freely amongst other humans and to breathe 'free air'?

And now, having formed your view, how do you measure the benefit or gains which the victim of that crime, and society in general, have acquired from locking up offenders, as a rule? And what of the convicted person, do you have any thoughts about them, and what cost they and their families are having to pay for this kind of 'justice'? Or do you not care

Now, endeavour, if you would, to explore how society and the victims of crimes - those not including violence, or where the incidence of violence is unlikely to re-occur - could dispose of criminal offences without further debasing and harming the physical and mental health of offenders, and their families.
