WILL PRESIDENT TRUMP'S LEGACY MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE? PART 2.

So, no, from an economic and global perspective, it seems unlikely that PTTU will leave the world better off, in terms of his legacy.

If, as might have to be the case, his economic and international policies are destined to leave the world more fractious, with countries having to resort to economic models which are based more on direct production and consumption of what they produce. If it means that, in their import and export dealings with the United States, they will be pressured into entering into inequitable and uneconomic trade 'deals.'

Then, no, the world will not become a better place. Granted that the United States, with over 318 million people, might have a lot of scope to pursue Trump' largely isolationist economy model for some time.  As the country produces and consumes most of what it needs, and probably sells and buys what it needs but cannot produce itself, at a preferential rate of exchange.

But what about the post-Trumpist political legacy which President Trump, T.U., is likely to leave the world; might he not leave it in a better place?

Well, yes, it probably could be the case that, the damage which President Trump, TU.'s 4 year reign will have caused the world, could, in an ironic or paradoxical way, lead to a better post-Trump world. Many on the extreme political right, the Brexiteers, the Front Nationale in France, the Geert Wilderists in the Netherland, and the AFD in Germany, will be feeling embolden by Trump's electoral victory and his presidency.

Perceiving it is a forerunner to them attaining mainstream political power in their own countries. I think that they are likely to be proven wrong, as the majority of the electorate in the western hemisphere, especially in Europe and North America, seems to coalesce around the centre of the political spectrum.

Not to far to the left and not too far to the right of the political spectrum is where they tend to feel most comfortable.
And, with the mainstream political parties becoming know for moderate and oftentimes very similar key policies, an increasing proportion of the electorate is quite happy not to bother to vote, in the belief that, whichever party wins the election, there will be no massive upset in their daily lives.

At least, prior to The Don's Presidency. What we could consider as nothing short of a phenomenon. It is probably no coincidence that it is the relative complacency of the electorate in Britain and the United States, which has done so much to bring about Brexit and Donald Trump's Presidency.

Electoral complacency, therefore, might be a bigger threat to 'democracy' and 'political decency', than the threat from the far and extreme political right. This threat is being recognised in the response of the political progressives to the odious and audacious threat from The Don and 'Trumpism.@

So, as we look around the world, what we are seeing is an organising and galvanising of the 'for' and the 'against' Trump and his odious policies. There are, in my opinion, three forces at play. There are those amongst us who support Donald Trump and the 'revanchist' policies which he represents and is advocating.

To be continued.
