JUST A THOUGHT - EUTHANASIA, IN A STATE WHICH VALUES FREEDOM OF THE INDIVIDUAL. PART 1.

In a State which values the freedom of the individual, which claims to be compassionate.  Should a person not have the ultimate right, the freedom to take his/her own life.  

Or to be able to get the assistance of  willing medical practitioner, to help them to bring to an end, a life which is objectively no longer worth living?

Is it not the ultimate freedom a human can have, that he or she is able, without fear or socially induced guilt, to determine the time and manner of their death? 

Why should the State be able to decree that a person will deemed to have broken some puny law, if they take their own lives? 

Or, having lost the ability to do it themselves, seek the assistance of others to help them to do so?

Despite the puerile argument of those who argue that life is sacred. It is clear that life is most sacred to its owner, and that he/she should have the right to give it up, if they so choose to take leave of it. 

If, an anytime, it becomes such a burden to them and/or to others, because they suffer from some degenerative or profound disability which causes them to loose their mental faculties.  

Or them becoming entombed in a body which is no longer capable of responding to mental faculties.

Why should any human who have been so afflicted, be denied their right to relinquish living, or, rather, existing, if they want to do so? 

There cannot be any irrefutable moral reasons why the life of any human who is exposed to such suffering, should be condemned to having the state prolonging their torture, their torment. 

For Christ's sake, humans kill animals when they are suffering much less. 

The State sends young men and women to fight wars and get killed, and to kill and maim other young men and women, as well as other people.

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better.   So, what are my thoughts about Hamas' unprecedented attack on parts of Israel, which has resulted in hundreds of men, women and children, some of them soldiers, being killed and thousands of Israelis becoming shocked and traumatised as they have probably never experienced before? So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter? If life were a bitch and then we die, might we not surmise that it be our duty to screw life before we die, that we might gain some small pleasure, some small satisfaction from our life the life we live, before we die? But of course, some of us might as some point, consider that it is life which screws the living and not the living who does the screwing.
