The regional government of Catalonia has, by its holding of illegal, if popular Independence Referendum, places the people of the region in some peril by its action.

It has caused a lot of uncertainty to befall the Catalans, which now imperil their economic, social and political lives. 

They are now, it seems, likely to lose their regional autonomy; even though it might only be for a period of time. 

While the Central Government of Spain, sets about putting out what, the advocates of an independent Catalonia, might argue, are the embers of 'a free and independent Catalonia.' 

It is one of the ironies of the current crisis that, the effect of the Independence referendum and the threat of the Regional government of Carless Puigdemont.' 

Is that it has precipitated a situation, which is more in keeping with the conditions which are more conducive to fanning the flames of the case for independence. 

Very ironic, indeed. In other words, it is arguable that, the case for the independence of Catalonia, are and could probably become stronger. 

After the impact of the independence referendum, than they were prior to it. 

The extent to which this will remain the case, is likely to be greatly influenced by whether the Central Government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. 


Uses the misplaced overconfidence and euphoric tide which led Puigdemont and the pro-independence movement to make the tactical and strategic error which they have made. 

In having the Independence referendum, and wanting to capitalise on it by declaring Catalan an independent country. 

To invoke an inquisition against the people of the Catalan region, and treat them less favourable than the Central government treats the other regions. 

Whether he is going to make the bigger tactical and strategic error of using it as an opportunity to deny the people of Catalonia their basic rights and place a yoke around their necks.



Even before the Catalan independence movement made its unwise move. 

The Regional government of the predominantly Kurdish area of Iraq, also, and against the advise of regional governments, called its own Independence Referendum. 

Hoping to capitalise on the Kurds opportunistic territorial gains from the wars in both Iraq and Syria. 


Like the people of Catalonia, the lives of the people of the Iraq's Kurdish regions, e.g., Kiruk, have now been placed in jeopardy and great uncertainty.

So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter?
