JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE SKRIPAL TRAGEDY AND THE FOLLY OF GOVERNMENTS. PART 1.

' As western leaders and governments become more autocratic in becoming prosecutor, judge and jury in convicting and punishing other nations with sanctions and military intervention.

They should heed the fact that, It is easy enough to push ourselves or others of the cliff  and into the void. But it can be extremely arduous to pull them or ourselves back up onto firm ground.

Sound decisions require good and accurate information, insightful   analysis, clarity of thought and time to reflect on their probably and likely impact and repercussions. Is this reflected in the British government's handling of the Sergei Skripal incident'?

For many years now, the relationship between the British and Russian State has been in a most unsatisfactory state.

With the governments - yes, the governments and not the people - having been at loggerhead and hostile towards each other.

It is a row which is also replicated between the Russian Federation and the Western hemisphere, especially as represented by the United States of America, Nato and the European Union.

This debacle between the Russian Federation and Western Europe and the United States of America, has its origins in the West's persistent attempt to capitalise on the fall and dissolution of the former Soviet Union.

And recruit and bride as many of the former Soviet republics as possible, into becoming members of NATO.

A situation which has placed the Russian Federation at a great disadvantage, as it tries to secure itself from NATO's encroachment on her borders.

The response of NATO, as should be expected, even if most likely disingenuous, has been to deny that it threatens the Russian Federation.

And tries to 'reassure it', that all is well, and that it has no reasons to be feeling threatened.  By the placement of NATO's arsenal in countries which had, until the 20 plus years, were integral members of the now dissolved Soviet Union.

Prudently, many would argue, the member states and people of the Russian Federation, looking at the placement of NATO's forces closer to or on their borders.

Have chosen to believe and act on what they can and are seeing with the eyes, and not on the disingenuous denial and reassurances from the West.

So, as is the tendency of nations and governments, the Russian and Nato governments have gone about creating and exploiting tensions in various parts of the world.  In order to advance their tactical and strategic geopolitical advantages and goals.

Russia has, it seems benefited from the tensions and conflicts in Georgia and Ukraine, both countries former members of the defunct Soviet Union.

To be continued!
