JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON HOW WE MANAGE CONFRONTING OUR AND/OR OTHERS' IMMINENT DYING AND DEATH. PART 1.

'It is probably the most profound contradiction of being in a state of living, that we should become tormented, in our most contemplative states.  

By the psychological and physical pain of the process by which many, if not most of us are fated to escape the imprisonment of being alive.'

It is a known fact that we all die, and yet, news of our imminent demise, or that of others, especially those close to us, can be so unbearable, shocking and distressing to us. 

Probably that is not all that surprising, after all, since us humans are not only fearful of losing our loved ones and people we like. 


But when we are confronted with their loss, through terminal illness, mortal injuries or sudden death, so are we confronted with our own demise.

So, how are we, indeed, how do we deal with the pending death of our loved ones? 

What are our thoughts, when we, intently, or surreptitiously, gaze upon the broken bodies of our loved ones or our friends.  

As they waste away from a position of toned or muscular health. Into one where their skin become as if it were ill-fitting garments clothing their tired, broken and weary bodies? 


Do we imagine ourselves being them? And do we ask futile questions?  

Such as, 'I wonder what I would do if I were in such a situation', ignoring the the fact that we might not be able to do anything about it, if we were? 

Do we think to ourselves, 'god forbid that I should be fated to travel this stage of our friend's or our loved ones' journey to my destiny'? 

Or, do we think, 'why has god forsaken our friend, our loved one? And caused or allowed them to be fated to have to endure the misery they are having to endure'?

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better.   So, what are my thoughts about Hamas' unprecedented attack on parts of Israel, which has resulted in hundreds of men, women and children, some of them soldiers, being killed and thousands of Israelis becoming shocked and traumatised as they have probably never experienced before? So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter? If life were a bitch and then we die, might we not surmise that it be our duty to screw life before we die, that we might gain some small pleasure, some small satisfaction from our life the life we live, before we die? But of course, some of us might as some point, consider that it is life which screws the living and not the living who does the screwing.
