It has forcefully removed some of its people from their lands and homes, to make way for new developments. 

It has wastes money and resources building cities which were to become 'white elephants', and remain unoccupied. 

It is therefore incumbent on the Chinese government and private investors, and on the involved African governments and peoples.  

To learn the appropriate lessons from the Chinese experience, and apply them to the development of the various African countries. 


The extent to which these lessons, the avoidance of costly mistakes, corruption, alienation of the people, and poor planning, and the application of sound ideas, principles and practices, are used as guides. 

Will greatly influence, if not determine the quality and legacy of China's current intervention in Africa, and its relationship with the people of that continent.

The Chinese government and private sector investors, by being in Africa,  are not indulging in acts of altruism, or are they about 'bringing gifts' to Africa and its people. 


It is making an economic, social and political investment in the expectation that it will bear profitable economic, political and social fruits. For both the Chinese and African nations. 

This investment, for China, is a necessary stepping stone to help it to achieve its vision of China and its position globally; now and in the future. 

As it continues it struggle to become the world's number 1 economic superpower; providing it can successfully fight of the spoiling attacks being waged by the American government.

The China-Africa and Chinese-African experience does risk having some of the negative effects of the European-African colonial history.  


But it would be very wrong to assume that there are little difference between them, and that the Chinese are only in Africa to plunder and exploit its resources and peoples. 

In order to further minimise any risks of that being the case, it will be necessary for both parties to be vigilant and put in place guiding and monitoring systems.  

To ensure that President Xi Jingping's stated goal of achieving 'a win, win' outcomes for both China and Africa, and the Africans and Chinese, is remaining on course.

So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter?
