JUST A THOUGHT - ON RUSSIA'S SHOOTING ITSELF IN ITS FOOT OVER THE SKRIPAL TRAGEDY! THE END.....

Was it about sending a message to all potential or actual Russian double agent that, if you turn your back on your country, its government will attempt to eliminate you at any cost? 

It seems that this is a 'lose' 'lose' situation for the Russian government, as well as for western countries which had wanted to continue to promote good relations with Russia.


It is a tragedy which has probably arisen from President Putin donning his former GRU hat and acting recklessly, having forgotten that he is now a leader of a strong nation and a world leader. 


The Skripal fiasco, not because it failed to murder Skripal and his daughter, but because the Russian government has to take responsibility for a plan which should never have been authorised. 

Has done a great injustice to the Russian people, and to the attempts to repair and build on damaged relationship between Russia and the rest of the world. 

 It has not only make the Russian government and its leadership, somewhat of a pariah, but has also brought shame and aspersion on the Russian nation. 

 It should not just be swept under the bureaucratic governmental carpet, as might have been the norm in the old days of the former Soviet Union. 


President Putin should probably set up as independent as possible, an inquiry into the whole sordid affair, with a brief to ascertain how this, and other obnoxious and nefarious plots had been allowed to see the light of day. 

 And how to avoid any repeat in the future. These kinds of dastardly plots, like the North Korean which resulted in the murder of Kim Jung-un's brother, has no place in the modern world. 

 And, arguably, definitely not in the new world order which President Putin appears to be arguing for and projecting.


Will it happen? Probably not. The most that might happen, would be for the people in charge of planning and executing these crimes. 

 To at least show some courage and humanity, in not exposing innocent people to the vile means and methods they have used against Skripals and the British couple who got caught up in the plot. Stop using chemical agents!

 It makes only limited, if any, sense, for the Russian government and state to be championing the 'war against terrorism', and then to be resorting to state terrorism to rid itself of those the current administration perceives as being 'enemies of the state.'

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better. So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter?
