JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON WHETHER EDUCATION IS BECOMING TOO COSTLY TO ACQUIRE. PART 1.

'Like a seed which is sown in the good earth, good education is an investment in the student's and society's present and future well-being. And should realise  more than what it costs, if it is to be a worthwhile investment.' 
'Modern' or contemporary societies have come to believe that 'education' is essential for the advancement of the human intellect, for our enlightenment. 

But, it is also the case that the acquisition of 'education', has come to be seen as the, or, a means by which humans are able to secure 'a good job or career.  



The purpose of education is primarily that of enabling, facilitating  the 'bearer', the 'achiever' feeding  and caring for him/herself feeding and family. 

Weak or strong, it is part of the bargaining chips the bearer takes to academia and/or the job market.


It, along with factor X, the bearer to, get a good wage or salary, and have a good life.  

Usually as measured by the status and the amount and quality of material possessions the person or family acquires and accumulates.


But, what constitutes 'education', and, more importantly, what we might call good and relevant education? 

It is clear that education is more than what used to be the passing down of acquired knowledge and skills throughout the generations. 

By means of memorising what had been related by the elders, griots, religious scholars, et al. 

As well as doing apprenticeship, which, at least in its earlier years, clearly place the emphasis on the acquisition and mastering of practical skills, rather than on theoretical or abstract or conceptual learning.

So, if life were a bitch and then we die, need we say or do or think anymore of the matter?
