IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 37.

'What we recall of our experiences of the past, tends to be a factor of how they impacted on our senses at the time, the strength of our continuing attachment to those experiences.

And the extent to which we have succeeded in assimilating them into our subsequent experiences and move on with our lives.'

Indeed, whether it might have been more or less, had he not already damaged the health of his veins from his drug addiction, can only be a matter of conjecture.

But his reaction when Judge Glenn pronounced his sentence would suggest that Kazaliwa, although his sentence would be seen by his family and others as being very severe, he was expecting it to have been much worse.

So much worse that Kazaliwa's reaction to being given a 10 year sentence, followed by an Extended Sentence of 5 years, was to punch the air in a sign of 'triumph.'

He had been expecting to be given an Indeterminate Sentence which could have kept him incarcerated for potentially decades.

It could, probably, have been compared with a man who was expecting the death sentence, and was, instead, given a life sentence.

Thus was Kazaliwa's great relief, which probably suggests that, not withstanding his reckless and destructive behaviour which had gotten him into this count on that day.

To be continued!
