BRITISH GRAN PRIX 2020 : HAMILTON AND TEAM MERCEDED TRIUMPHED WITH TWO AND A HALF WHEELS AND A PRAYER!!!! DONE!

It would not have been the first time Hamilton had had such a misfortune, although it seemed somewhat longer than might have been the case.  

But which is why, several laps before the end of the race, I found myself being tormented by visions of Hamilton's tyres disintegrating on him. 

Of him getting so far but not making it to the end. It did not help when his team mate, Bottas, had one of his tires giving up the ghost and him falling back down the convoy. 

It was a time for contemplating what might have been Hamilton's fate. 

Fortunately for him and Team Mercedes and their fans, although he and his car was fated to loose most of their pace and time advantage.  

Which was be enough to allow Verstappen The Intrepid to rapidly zoom in on Hamilton at the very end of the race to take P.2.  

And contemplate how he could have overtaken his prey, providing his, Hamilton's tyre/s had not exploded first, if only he had another lap or half a lap to go. 

On this day, it was not to be so, because the gods and/or fate had decreed that nothing was to deprive Hamilton of his 87 Grand Prix win, and his Seventh at Silverstone

So, A Very Big Congratulation to Hamilton and Team Mercedes, on probably their most agonising and 'breath-holding' Formula 1 win, and to Max Verstappen and Team Red Bull for making it to P.2, and Charles Leclerc and Team Ferrari for making it to P.3.

Commiserations to Valtteri Bottas and all the other racers and their teams, whose cars spluttered and fallen back or DNF because of type degradation.
