BRITISH GRAND PRIX - MIXED FORTUNES AS VERSTAPPEN CRASHED OUT AND HAMILTON PREVAILED! ! ! THE END, FOR ...!

And yet, we should not be so caught-up in feeling jubilation for Camp Mercedes or indignation and anger in Camp Red Bull.

In case we become oblivious to the fact that, at the end of the race, the damage which has been done has been mostly to Max's car.

And  to the perceptions the racers and teams have about each other, and the people have about Hamilton and Verstappen.

What we now know is that Lewis has very strong feelings about what he sees as Max's tendency to race aggressively.

And Lewis feeling that he has on too many occasions been 'disrespected' by Max in how he interacts with Lewis on the circuits.

It seems clear to  me that Lewis has had enough of, as he sees it, Max trying to race him over or push him off the circuit.

Lewis has accepted that there was a time when he used to race aggressive, and those of us who have seen him race in his younger years, will be able to attest to that fact.

So, the Verstappen fans might ask, why should Lewis now be taking issue with Max's aggressive racing, considering that he, Max, is now at his young 'Hamiltonesque' years?

Could Hamilton be justifiably accused of be a tod hypocritical or displaying some double-standard her?

Probably. It might also be that the context is somewhat different. With the stakes for the 2021 Drivers Championship, and the fierce competition between the two racers and their respective teams proving to be too combustible and not easily controlled.

The competition and rivalry has now become more heightened. It is not just a matter of 'no quarter being given' by either racer.

But one in which the mind-set is now one of, 'if you disrespect me, you can expect to be paid back, at least in equal measures.'

And yet, while Hamilton and Verstappen do need to continue to compete, and compete hard for the 2021 Drivers Championship, and their respective teams for the Constructor's Championship.

They need to not eschew all obligations towards minimising the risks of them competing resulting in the DNF situation which has been Max's fate at Silverstone.

That would not be in their and the fans interests. So, guys, cool it down.

If Max and Team Red Bull are of the view that they want or must have 'revenge', then let it come through winning races without avoidable incidents leading to DNFs and possible injuries.

But for now, A Very Big Congratulations to Team Mercedes and Hamilton and Bottas, for making it to P.1 and P.3, and to Team Ferrari and Charles Leclerc, for making it P.2.

A Big Confratulations also to Lando Norris for his record in consistently scoring racing points.

And Commiserations to Max Verstappen and Team Red Bull for their crash and DNF.

As timing goes, it is propitious that this incident should have taken place during the last of the batches of 3 races occurring consecutively.

This will have provided the main protagonists and their teams to reflect, exhale, inhale, and calm their minds and reign in their egos, and allow sanity to prevail during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
