CANADIAN GRAND PRIX - VERSTAPPEN AND RED BULL TOPPED IT, AS TEAM MERCEDES THREATENS THE CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERS!

Max Verstappen is undoubtedly a Formula 1 racer of distinction, and one who is clearly fated to win another Drivers' World Championship, including the current one, barring any unforeseen developments during the second half of the season.

So his winning of the recent Canadian Grand Prix is not unexpected. Providing Team Red Bull continue to provide Max and Sergio with reliable cars, while their nearest competitors, Ferrari and Mercedes remain significantly off the pace.

The Red Bull duo can be predicted to have somewhat of an assured racing towards the Driers Championship.

At the same time, the outcome of the Canadian Grand Prix, with Verstappen, Carlos Sainz and Hamilton taking the respective honours, suggest that the conclusion of the 2022 Season is likely to end somewhat differently from how it had started.

We have seen how Team Red Bull and Team Ferrari laid down the competitive markers, suggesting a likely two teams and 3 cars competition.

At the same time, we have seen how both teams have, rather dramatically, experienced damaging substantial points losses.

Due to car unreliability and under performance  issues, which have probably been impacting Team Ferrari more than Team Red Bull. A malady which saw Charles Leclerc finishing at P.5 in Sunday's race, while Sergio Perez had a dnf.

However, because of the pace of the Red Bull Ferrari's cars, they have been much better placed to make up their points deficits.

Compared with Team Mercedes, which has, at least until their most recent race, the Canadian Grand Prix, more deep-rooted and difficult to resolve pace and performance problems.

It is not surprising that, with Team Mercedes being able to deploy and maintain their strongest challenge to to the Red Bulls and Ferraris to date.

The Canadian Grand Prix provided many exciting and adrenalinised moments, and was all together a very enjoyable race.

It has been a race from which Team Mercedes can take a lot of satisfaction, in seeing evidence of their smart working paying dividends in terms of better pace and performance.

For probably the first time, they can move from 'hoping' to having confidence that their car is nearly ready to take on the Ferraris and Red Bulls. Head to head.

That kind of psychological high just has to be transformed into race winning performance from Hamilton and Russell.

For now, however, let me say A Very Big Congratulations to Team Red Bull and Max Verstappen, and to Team Ferrari and Carlos Sainz and Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, for making it to P.1, P.2 and P.3, respectively.

As we get ready to experience the British Grand Prix of 2022.
